Basketball & Cheer Tryouts

There will be basketball and cheer tryouts for the Florida Mako’s on September 12th from 3:00-6:00 pm and on September 26th from 3:00-6:00 pm at the St. Francis Catholic High School. Registration fee for basketball is $125.00 and cheer fee is $75.00. Sign up at http://www.floridamakosbasketball.com or at the tryout. If paying at the tryout there is a $10.00 fee added to registration fee. Thanks and good luck!

Florida Mako’s Charity Golf Tournament

The Florida Mako’s Charity Golf Tournament will be November 4th at 1:00. Golfer registration fee is $200.00. Spectators fee is $5.00. Part of the proceeds will be going to Limbs for U, a prosthetic limbs company in Gainesville that helps those in need all over the world. Come out and play golf, watch, or make a donation. Tomorrow the Last Day of Camp

Tomorrow, Friday Aug.20th will wrap up the FREE Kid’s Basketball Camp at Newberry Sports Complex in Gainesville, Florida.

Thank you for everyone that participated, staff, coaches, Newberry Sports Complex, On Point Basketball Program, The Prepared Athlete, Florida Mako’s Basketball Team, and of course the kids and parents!

We will be having more FREE camps, events, etc. for kids throughout the year in Gainesville, Florida.

Free Kid’s Basketball Camp

The Florida Mako’s will be having a free basketball camp for kids on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th from 8:00-12:00 at the Newberry Sports Complex. The camp started on Monday but the people that were supposed to update the info sent it to the wrong blog. We apologize for the inconvenience. Hope your kids can attend tomorrow and Friday! ABA Florida Mako’s Pups Cheer Tryouts

"Go Hard or Go Home"

Cheer tryouts are approaching fast…August 14th at the Newberry Sports Complex in Gainesville, Florida from 10:00 – 2:00. All participants must sign up either online at http://www.abamakos.com or at the tryout. The fee is $75.00 per person. If you sign up 3 or more people, the cost for each person in your group is only $50.00! Go Mako’s! Practice your cheer voices and arm movements! Jumps required, some tumbling, etc. There will be a short cheer, short dance, and list of jumps taught at the tryout. The participants will be required to do the cheer, dance, and attempt the jumps at end of the tryout in front of three judges. All participants will wear a sticker with a number on it, t-shirt, appropriate sports shorts (we do not want to see underwear or actual bottoms), and athletic shoes. Please bring some type of bottled beverage and keep hair pulled back off of face. We will not accept any negative/rude behavior towards the coaches, judges, other participants, facility staff, etc. Those who cannot abide by these rules will be asked to leave. Other than that, come ready to smile, cheer, dance, and have fun! Thanks and good luck!
